Niyama Yoga & Yama Therapeutics

Not all Yoga Teacher Trainings are created equal. In fact, there is a huge disparity between the curricula of teacher trainings. If you are looking for a top-notch, comprehensive yoga teacher training program, you have come to the right place. Niyama is an industry leader for proper education and training.

What makes Niyama an industry leader in 300 hour yoga teacher training?

Niyama's RYT 300 hour yoga teacher training program is best in class due to the caliber of teachers who offer this training and the extensive content and application of tangible therapeutic yoga techniques.

Our programs were originally founded by Diane Finlayson and are now run by Nicole Zornitzer. Diane is the Department Chair of Yoga Therapy & Ayurveda at Maryland University of Integrative Health. Nicole is also a graduate of Maryland University of Integrative Health, from where she received her certification in Ayurvedic as a Certified Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant.

The Yamas and the Niyamas, which are cornerstones of Ayurveda, anchor the teachings of Hatha yoga taught in our trainings. The Yamas are restraints, or social disciplines. For example, one of the Yamas is Ahimsa, or non-violence. Embracing the concept of Ahimsa means our teacher training programs encourage you to respect your body’s edges and not harm yourself while practicing, nor harm your students by pushing them too far in their practices. The Niymamas are observances, or ethical conducts. One of the Niyamas is Svadhyaya, or self-study. Our trainings incorporate this concept and help you to understand and accept yourself.

300 hour yoga teacher training

This is Sanskrit for Svadhyaya

In our RYT 300 hour yoga teacher training the student will spend nine months delving deep into the Yoga Therapy arena, studying graduate school level texts and applying this knowledge in case studies with actual clients.  Students will receive hands-on guidance and mentorship that enables them to appropriately absorb and apply therapeutic techniques that are presented in an academic setting. The level of course work, home study, texts, in person learning and internship is that of an advanced graduate school level. Additionally, the students are required to research populations of interest and choose an area that most interests them for research and case studies.  The research is extensive and the culmination of this research completes with a final paper that will be worthy of publication in peer reviewed medical journals both in Yoga Therapy and Ayurvedic Medicine.

How does Niyama's RYT 300 hour yoga teacher training build upon the RYT 200 hour yoga teacher training?

Our RYT 200 Training provides the foundations of traditional Hatha Yoga with an introduction to Therapeutic Yoga and Ayurveda; this is essential to excel and absorb the next level of 300 hours. While we do accept students who have trained in other RYT 200 programs, we also offer one-on-one training to bring all applicants up to the level that we require for this intense 300 hour training. This training is ideal for those who are looking to enter the Therapeutic Yoga field with appropriate knowledge on how to work with specialty populations and create wellness plans for individual clients or small groups suffering from similar imbalances. This program is meant to take the student from the level of traditional yoga to the next level of therapeutic application of yoga, meditation, mindfulness and Ayurvedic knowledge. In our RYT 200 teacher training students are introduced to key concepts of Therapeutic Yoga. In our RYT 300 hour yoga teacher training program we go deep into all aspects of the physical body, emotional body and energetic body to help trainees understand and apply the theory that is taught.  Upon receipt of this certification students are qualified to enter hospitals, schools, shalas and specialty centers that focus on wellness and recovery from emotional, physical and spiritual dis-ease.

What makes Niyama's RYT 300 hour yoga teacher training so intense?

Our RYT 300 hour yoga teacher training program is more intense than our RYT 200 because of the time, effort and desire for our graduates to excel in the field of Yoga Therapy.  Because the trainers in this program are top in industry, their passion is to provide all trainees with the appropriate tool box to enter the ever growing field of Yoga Therapy. We allot nine months for this training due to the demands of the program and keeping in mind the demands of our students' personal lives. In Ayurveda, it is the mindset that learning must occur over extended periods of time for proper absorption, analysis and application. We believe that all students who want to apply this knowledge do so in a professional manner that is unmatched by any other program.

Who should enroll in Niyama's RYT 300 hour yoga teacher training program?

Our RYT 300 hour yoga training program is meant for existing yoga instructors who are looking to take their career to the next level of education and application. This program is meant for those that want to bring wellness versus dis-ease to the populations they serve, who potentially want to make Therapeutic Yoga a full-time career and for those who are intrigued by how Yoga, Ayurveda, Meditation and several other natural healing modalities positively affect the mind, body and spirit.
