300 RYT Testimonial: Lea

Listen to Lea as she shares her transformative journey and the profound impact Niyama Yoga Studio's yoga teacher training program had on her practice. Lea's experience is a testament to the comprehensive nature of the program, which delves not only into the physical aspects of yoga, such as asanas, but also into the profound philosophy and guiding principles that underpin this harmonious way of life.

Our therapeutic yoga teacher training is designed to empower individuals like Lea to take their yoga practice to new heights. But what sets Niyama apart from others in the industry? One key factor that distinguishes Niyama's RYT 300-hour yoga teacher training program is the exceptional caliber of teachers who offer this training. Created by Diane Finlayson, the Department Chair of Yoga Therapy & Ayurveda at Maryland University of Integrative Health, and now overseen by Nicole Zornitzer, a Certified Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant, our trainers bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the program.

The foundation of Niyama's training lies in the integration of Ayurveda's Yamas and Niyamas, which are fundamental principles in this ancient holistic system. Niyama's 300-hour yoga teacher training program specifically caters to individuals who have already completed their RYT 200 certification and are eager to deepen their understanding and application of therapeutic yoga practices. In collaboration with Yama Therapeutics, Niyama Yoga Shala offers a comprehensive curriculum that encompasses a wide range of topics and hands-on practice. Trainees learn how to structure therapeutic yoga sessions, gain proficiency in applying various therapeutic techniques, and explore specialized populations, including those dealing with anxiety and stress, heart disease, addiction, cancer, stroke, scoliosis, elder care, grief and bereavement, hospice care, and couples.

Over the course of nine months, trainees can expect to immerse themselves in a rich learning experience. The curriculum covers key yogic philosophy, the eight limbs of yoga, Yoga Therapy ABC's, Ayurveda, pranayama, mudra, bandhas, gunas, chakras, the Upanishads and Vedas, meditation, prana vidya, somatics, joint freeing series, Yin Yoga, the study of Buddhist scripture, Kum Nye introduction, business and marketing for a private practice, and much more. Trainees are guided in creating their own workshops, developing a five-week private therapeutic yoga session for a specific population, and completing a research paper.

This training also includes a 3-night, 4-day retreat which takes place in a beautiful venue with a highly pranic environment, allowing trainees to apply what they have learned in a practical setting while bonding with their fellow trainees and mentors. This immersive experience deepens the understanding of therapeutic yoga and strengthens the mind-body-soul connection. The retreat serves as a transformative experience that often leaves participants with an elevated vibration and a renewed sense of balance and awareness.
