Q&A with Heather: Dedication and excellence are non-negotiable
Heather Kerner is one of our RYT 200 graduates and Assistant Manager of our New Jersey Shalas.

"Not all those who wander are lost." JRR Tolkien
This is one of Heather’s favorite quotes as she feels that her life’s wanderings have led her to yoga and her path as a Therapeutic Yoga Teacher.
Q:Why did you decide to do a Teacher Training?
A: I had been practicing yoga for several years and had seen a tremendous shift in not only my physical health, but my mental health as well. During quarantine, I began to consider what it might be like to teach. I am a helper, I know my purpose is to help others. The inspiration to bring to others what yoga brought to me blossomed and so I began to research programs.
Q:What was your experience like at Niyama?
A: My experience at Niyama was beyond anything I ever expected. From the first moment I walked into the shala, I felt like I was home. The first weekend of the program, I knew in my heart I was exactly where I was meant to be.
Q:Why would you recommend Niyama's training over others?
A: The level of education and training received cannot be emphasized enough. It is rigorous and demanding; dedication and excellence are non-negotiable. The best is expected of their students because the people who seek out this modality of self-care, they deserve the absolute best. This training sets the bar for other YTT programs.
Q:What was your biggest takeaway from the program?
A: It is impossible to narrow what I received from this program down to one thing. I found my purpose through this program and I am inspired daily by my fellow graduates, the amazing instructors at Niyama and those that entrust me with guiding them through their practice.
